Reading to therapy pets helps bolster children’s self confidence, which reduces their anxiety.

Please join us and our friends at Creature Comfort Pet Therapy, in the Children’s Room, for your chance to read to a therapy dog.

Registration is required. Please visit or call the Children’s Department to register for your 15 minute time slot.

Tax Time

Free copies of the Federal 1040 instruction booklets and forms for 2023 are available at reference. If you need a copy of a particular federal tax form, you can find it on the IRS site or stop by the library and we can locate and print it for you.

The library doesn’t receive printed copies of the State of New Jersey tax forms, but we can print a copy for you!

Need help filing taxes? You can visit the AARP Tax Help website for a list of locations where AARP volunteers are working. Note that you must call them to make an appointment; it’s not a drop-in service.

IRS Tax Assistance for Low Income Families – If your adjusted gross income last year was $73,000 or less, you may be eligible to file your federal taxes online for free. Check the IRS Free File page for info.

About The Library

The Belleville Public Library has been in existence for over 100 years and is the jewel of Washington Avenue which runs the course of the Township of Belleville, NJ between Nutley and Newark.

It serves a diverse population of approximately 36,000 residents and is located less than 10 minutes from Essex County’s beautiful Branch Brook Park.

The library provides a host of programs and activities for all ages and serves a variety of cultures.
